A woman from Canton was thrown in jail Wednesday after deputies said she left her 4 year old son in the car while she was blowing her money gambling.

The mother, Tamonda Johnson, 32, says she went out to check on the boy from time to time, making sure the car was warm and left him alone again – in 36 degree temperatures. Cops noticed the kid in the car outside the Cyber City Cafe at around 4:30 am and arrested her. She was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment.

Her side of the story makes this seem at least understandable – she couldn’t afford a babysitter, and she was attempting to win enough cash to pay her rent. Still, the kid is now with Stark County Protective Services.
